Texas has fought off elimination once again, this time forcing a rematch with Tennessee for a spot in the Women’s College World Series. Less than 24 hours after dramatically beating Nebraska in an elimination, the No. 2 seed Longhorns defeated No. 7 seed Tennessee 5-2 on Monday.

Antwood broke the scoring ice in the top of the 4th inning with a solo home run. Tennessee answered, tying things up 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning. The Longhorns put 3 on the board in the top of the 5th inning, including a Katie Steward solo shot, and added an insurance run in the 7th.

Tennessee made things interesting in the bottom of the 7th inning, loading the bases. An Emma Clarke infield single brought home 1 run with 2 outs, cutting the lead to 5-2. The Longhorns made a pitching change with 2 outs, bringing Teagan Kavan on for Citlaly Gutierrez.

The move worked, as Kavan got Elsa Morrison to strike out looking and leave the bases loaded. Texas and Tennessee will play again Monday afternoon.
