Jace LaViolette will go down as one of the most decorated sluggers in Texas A&M baseball history. Now, he’s gearing up for his MLB career after being selected by the Cleveland Guardians, and his first contract is reportedly in the books.

According to Jim Callis with MLB Pipeline, LaViolette has signed a rookie contract for $4 million with the Guardians. He was selected with the 27th overall pick in the first round, a slot that had a value of just under $3.4 million.

Callis reports that LaViolette’s contract is the richest overslot deal in the first round of this year’s draft:

The 2024 season was a rough year for Texas A&M baseball after the Aggies missed the NCAA Tournament despite entering the year as the preseason No. 1 team in the country. However, LaViolette added to his elite career, rewriting the home run record books for Texas A&M.

LaViolette also sustained a broken bone in his hand during the SEC Baseball Tournament, but he came back to fight through the pain shortly after. It did not lead to a title for the Aggies, but it furthered his case as a true program legend willing to do anything for his teammates.

Now, LaViolette is off to MLB.
