Tommy White, a key member of LSU baseball‘s 2023 national championship run, is finally getting his shot at the big leagues. According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan, White has been called up by the Athletics and is expected to make his Major League debut on Friday against the Washington Nationals.

It’s been a long time coming for White, who has slashed .303/.345/.489 for the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators this season with 10 home runs and 64 RBIs across his season in Double and Triple-A.

If White can even hold a candle to his time with the LSU Tigers, he’ll be a star in no time. The former Tigers third baseman totaled just under 200 hits with 175 RBIs, 48 home runs and 36 doubles across his 2 seasons in Baton Rouge. He was a star for NC State as a freshman, too, posting 27 home runs for a grand total of 76 home runs across 3 years in college.

That’ll do.

White is the A’s No. 7 prospect and was selected in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He’s likely to slide over to first base to cover for injured Athletics 1B Nick Kurtz in his debut.
