Finney-Smith was probably a bench contributor on last year’s Rockets squad. He played in 37 games for Houston, making just 1 start. For the season, Smith averaged 3.3 points and 2.5 rebounds over 16.8 minutes per game.
Houston signed Smith ahead of the 2025-26 season. He came over from the Los Angeles Lakers, who acquired him via a trade with the Brooklyn Nets in 2024.
Finney-Smith spent most of his NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks. He went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, but made his debut later that year with the Mavs.
At Florida, Finney-Smith was the SEC’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2014 and a two-time second-team All-SEC selection (2015, ’16). He joined the program for the 2013-14 season, transferring from Virginia Tech.
