Bryce Young is a starting quarterback in the National Football League, 1 of only 32 in any given week that can make that claim.
But when Young played the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the former Alabama great and 2021 Heisman Trophy winner looked a bit like a future Pro Football Hall of Famer.
On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers quarterback put together some insane numbers when trailing the self-styled America’s Team – going 10-for-10 for 125 passing yards, 3 touchdown passes and a perfect 158.3 passer rating according to Pro Football Focus.
The Panthers needed every bit of Young’s skills against the Cowboys on Sunday, as well as another stellar performance from Rico Dowdle. Young finished 17-of-25 for 199 yards and 3 TDs with 1 interception in a 30-27 victory. Dowdle turned in another monster day as Chuba Hubbard’s backfield replacement, rushing for 183 yards on 30 carries and catching 4 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
Rookie kicker Ryan Fitzgerald was the final factor in Carolina’s win, booting a 33-yard field goal as time expired.
Carolina (3-3) visits the winless New York Jets next week. Dallas (2-3-1) hosts Washington looking to get back to .500.
