Deion Sanders has long been a vocal supporter for getting his Jackson State players as much exposure as they can, and that includes NFL Pro Days, like one recently held for Sanders’ players.
So when 10 franchises did not send a representative, Sanders put them on full blast.
โOur pro day, at an HBCU, I love that, and yeah, and guess what? That means 10 of them (NFL teamsโ representatives) is missing,โ Sanders told NFL Networkโs Cameron Wolfe, via FootballScoop. โDonโt think I ainโt going to call you out. โYou 10 thatโs missing, if I catch you at Mississippi State or Ole Miss (for those two SEC programsโ upcoming pro days), itโs going to be a problem. Thatโs all Iโm saying.โ
Sanders then added, โitโs going to be a problem. Our kids are that good, you should have shown up, too. โฆ Iโm going to expose them.โ
FootballScoop reported that according to those in attendance at the event in Jackson, the 10 NFL franchises not represented were: Baltimore, Buffalo, Carolina, Cleveland, Denver, Houston, Miami, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.
Sanders has previously said that his desire is for 7 to 10 players be drafted from HBCUs, and then have those numbers double going forward each year.
About HBCU having zero players drafted, Sanders said, “Thatโs not going to happen again,โ Sanders said of having zero HBCU players drafted. โIt will never happen again.”
