Deontae Lawson is reuniting with former Alabama teammate Jihaad Campbell in the NFL.

According to multiple reports, Lawson is signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Crimson Tide linebacker was not picked in the 2026 NFL Draft, affording him the opportunity to negotiate with any team for his next football home.

Some thought Lawson would be drafted on Day 3. The Crimson Tide had an SEC-high 10 players picked in the draft, but Lawson had to wait it out. In Philly, he’ll seek a roster spot on a team looking to rebound after a disappointing 2025-26 season.

The Eagles went 11-6 to win an NFC East division crown, but they lost 23-19 in the Wild Card round to the 49ers.

Philly’s defense ranked fifth in the NFL in the regular season, allowing just 19.1 points per game. Campbell, Philly’s first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, finished fourth on the team in tackles while tallying 2 tackles for loss, an interception, a forced fumble, and 3 pass breakups.

Campbell and Lawson spearheaded Alabama’s defense during the 2024 season, when the linebacker duo combined for 193 total tackles.

Lawson led the Crimson Tide in tackles last year, capping a career that included 2 All-SEC nods and 2 captain selections.

Alabama offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts is also reportedly signing a UDFA deal with the Eagles. Other deals for former Alabama players include DaShawn Jones (Saints), Kam Dewberry (Falcons), and Nikhai Hill-Green (Rams).
