Ex-South Carolina star Jaycee Horn makes one-handed pick of Trevor Lawrence

Ex-South Carolina star cornerback Jaycee Horn must have felt like he was back in Columbia during Sunday’s season opener.

Horn now plays for the Carolina Panthers, and the quarterback he was defending on Sunday in the Week 1 battle with the host Jacksonville Jaguars was none other than Trevor Lawrence, who just happened to star at Clemson during the exact same time that Horn played at South Carolina.

So, this was a rivalry renewed, so to speak, and even though Lawrence and the Jaguars got the better on the scoreboard in the 26-10 victory, Horn had his one fine moment against Lawrence on Sunday.

Late in the third quarter, with Jacksonville ahead 20-3, Lawrence was looking down the middle of the field. He fired a pass that he wanted to go over Horn’s reach, but the South Carolina-Clemson rivalry runs deep, and Horn must have gotten some extra lift in that moment to make a miraculous one-handed interception of Lawrence.

Here is the video of one of the early plays of the year in the NFL:

It was Lawrence’s only interception of the day, and even though he got the win, a part of Lawrence probably didn’t like being picked off by a former Gamecock.

The one-time college rivals who faced each other during those same seasons got another chance to go head-to-head, this time as NFL players in a season opener in Jacksonville.
