Former Auburn K Daniel Carlson signing with new NFL team

College football is finally back this Saturday, but the NFL still has a few more weeks left in its preseason before its season officially kicks off.
This means teams across the pro ranks have a bit more time to finalize their rosters and decide who they want to roll into their respective campaigns with.
The New Orleans Saints just made a significant addition to their special teams group, with NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reporting that the team is signing legendary former Auburn kicker Daniel Carlson.

Carlson played at Auburn from 2014-2017, where he was the starting placekicker all 4 seasons and left as the SEC’s all-time leading points scorer, a record that Alabama’s Will Reichard later broke.
Carlson went on to be selected in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft and spent the last 8 seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2022. The Raiders elected to let their star kicker walk in free agency after signing Will Gay, and Carlson has been a free agent all offseason.
Now he’ll be taking his talents down to the Big Easy, where he will be looking to regain his elite form for the Saints as they attempt to chase down an NFC South title in 2026.
