Former Auburn place kicker Daniel Carlson has donned the No. 2 jersey for the past 5 seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, he’s swapping numbers this season after the arrival of star running back Ashton Jeanty.
The former Boise State star, Jeanty was selected by the Raiders with the 6th overall pick in this year’s draft. Jeanty led all of FBS with 2,601 rushing yards this season, leading the Broncos to a College Football Playoff appearance and finishing 2nd for the Heisman Trophy.
When it comes to landing the No. 2 jersey, Jeanty has since revealed it did not come cheap. In a conversation with Kay Adams, Jeanty revealed he paid up with a hefty fee to Carlson.
“I didn’t get this for free, man. I had to drop a little bag,” said Jeanty while initially declining to name the price.
“I called him, told him I’m trying to get that No. 2. I’m willing to negotiate, whatever you’re thinking,” said Jeanty. “I gave him what I was thinking first, then he came back. I gotta do it, I gotta drop that little bag for No. 2.”
Asked to clarify how much money that is, Jeanty initially said it was enough to buy a house, but he then described it as enough money to buy a nice car, such as a Mercedes GLE. For what it’s worth, the 2025 Mercedes GLE has an MSRP range of $63,000-$94,700.

Carlson has been among the most consistent kickers in the league during his career, converting on 87.5% of his kicks with a first-team All-Pro nod in 2022. Now, he’s a bit richer, all just to give up his No. 2.
