Former Miami linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested in Los Angeles on Friday night, according to a report from TMZ.

The L.A. Chargers football player was booked into the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station on a felony charge of possessing an assault weapon, according to the outlet. Officers found 3 handguns and 2 assault rifles that were non-compliant with state regulations in California when conducting a search of Perryman’s vehicle. Perryman was on his way to a gun range.

According to TMZ, Perryman was still in jail Saturday morning and has a court date set for Tuesday.

Perryman, a second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2015, is entering his 11th season in the NFL. He spent the first 6 years of his professional career with the Chargers before being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2021 season. After 2 seasons with the Raiders and 1 year with the Houston Texans, Perryman returned to California and signed with the Chargers in 2024.

He was re-signed by the franchise last March on a 1-year deal worth $3.65 million, according to Yahoo Sports.

Perryman did not play in the Chargers’ preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night in Canton, Ohio.
