Former Texas A&M RB De’Von Achane reportedly lands high-paying extension with Miami Dolphins

Former Texas A&M running back De’Von Achane is getting paid well to stay in Miami.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday that Achane has agreed to a 4-year extension with the Miami Dolphins that pays him $17 million per year ($32 million guaranteed). The contract makes Achance the third-highest-paid running back in the NFL.

Achane is about to enter his 4th season with Miami. He was selected No. 84 overall in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

In 2023, Achane was an instant-impact rookie, playing in 11 games with 4 starts. He posted an NFL record 7.8 yards per carry in 2023, rushing 110 times for 800 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Achane saw his role increase in 2024, when he played in 17 games, starting 16. His carries nearly doubled to 203 as he rushed for 907 yards and 6 scores. Achane saw his most action as a receiver in 2024, as he posted career-highs of 78 catches for 592 yards and 6 touchdowns.

This past season, Achane was again a 16-game starter for the Dolphins. He logged 238 carries for 1,350 yards, both career highs. Achane’s 5.7 yards per carry led the league. He added 67 catches for 488 yards and 3 scores.
