Hudsonville, Michigan native Isaac TeSlaa is living the dream playing for the Detroit Lions. On Thanksgiving, the former Arkansas wide receiver finally snagged a touchdown at home.

TeSlaa’s Thursday touchdown grab wasn’t the first of his career, but it may be one he remembers more than others. It’s the first the hometown wideout caught a TD in the Lions’ home stadium, Ford Field. In the 3rd quarter, Detroit QB Jared Godd found TeSlaa open in the end zone and the rookie wide receiver made an impressive grab to help Detroit cut the Green Bay lead to 1 score.

TeSlaa has had quite the journey to playing for his hometown NFL team. He began his college football career at Hillsdale College in 2020. After a standout 2022 season, he transferred to Arkansas ahead of the 2023 campaign.

At Arkansas, TeSlaa played for 2 seasons. He was the Razorbacks’ second-leading receiver in 2023, recording 34 catches for 351 yards and 2 touchdowns. In 2024, he posted 28 catches for 545 yards and 3 TDs. While those numbers weren’t particularly head-turning, the Lions saw something they liked and traded up to select TeSlaa with the No. 70 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

TeSlaa entered the game with 4 catches for 65 yards and 2 TDs on the year. His previous scores came in road games at Green Bay and Cincinnati.

Since TeSlaa’s score, Green Bay has scored again to widen its lead to 31-21. We’ll see if the Lions look TeSlaa’s way again.
