Ja’Marr Chase gave Cincinnati Bengals fans (and fantasy football players) quite the scare when he was forced to leave Tuesday’s practice session after what appeared to be a knee injury.
It looks as if the star wide receiver will be OK, though. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway, Chase signaled after the session that the injury was nothing to worry about.
That’s good news for the Bengals, who can ill afford to lose the two-time first-team All-Pro less than three weeks before the start of the regular season on Sept. 13.
“Just a football play. Missed step, missed my footing, and just a little tweak, but I’m fine,” Chase said, per Conway.
The Bengals’ preseason finale is on Friday at the Philadelphia Eagles. Chase, along with other starters like Joe Burrow, won’t play in that one.
Cincinnati is hoping the Burrow-Chase connection can get them back to the postseason for the first time since 2022, when it appeared in the AFC Championship Game. The Bengals went 6-11 in 2025, but Burrow played just eight games due to a turf toe injury.
Chase still recorded 1,412 yards on a league-high 185 catches, but finished with eight touchdowns. That was down significantly from his NFL-leading 17 touchdowns in 2024.
