The NFL, along with the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and Denver Broncos, have each released statements in response to Brian Flores’ lawsuit filed on Tuesday.
Flores, the former Dolphins head coach who was a highly-regarded candidate for multiple NFL head coaching openings, has described systemic racism in NFL hiring practices toward black coaches. The NFL and the franchises named in the class-action lawsuit all denied the accusations, and described diversity values and details of Flores’ interviews.
Flores contends that his interview with the Giants was only to demonstrate falsely to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the public at large that it was in compliance with the Rooney Rule, which stipulates that franchises must interview minority candidates.
