Philip Rivers hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2020-21 season. However, the 44-year-old quarterback is reportedly looking to come out of retirement for the last team he played for.

The 8-time Pro Bowler is going to work out for the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday for a spot on their practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

This comes after Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in the Colts’ loss on Sunday vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. Riley Leonard, who replaced Jones, is reportedly hampered with a strained knee ligament, which is making him week-to-week and leaves his status unknown for this week’s game vs. the Seattle Seahawks.

The highly decorated Rivers is sixth all-time in NFL history in passing yards (63,440), trailing only Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Ben Roethlisberger. Rivers is also sixth in NFL history in touchdown passes (421), trailing just Brady, Brees, Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Favre.

In River’s final NFL season, he amassed 4,169 passing yards and 24 touchdowns with 11 interceptions en route to the Colts having an 11-5 record. Rivers spent the first 16 seasons of his career with the Chargers, first in San Diego (2004-2016) and then in Los Angeles (2017-2019).
