Following the Los Angeles Rams’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game, 31-27, head coach Sean McVay was asked about Matthew Stafford’s future with the Rams and playing in the NFL.
McVay didn’t take the question lightly as he answered the question with almost a confused look and even said, “What the hell kind of question is that?”
“Yeah, I mean, if he still wants to play. What the hell kind of question is that?” McVay said. “I know that if he wants to, he’s still playing at a pretty damn good clip. I mean, he’s the MVP of the league, and if he’s not, I got respect for everybody else, but this guy played at a level that is just different.”
The 37-year-old Stafford had quite the NFC Championship game and season. The former Georgia standout was 22 of 35 for 374 yards and 3 touchdowns against one of the top defenses in the NFL.
In the year, Stafford totaled 4,700 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions while completing his passes at a 65% rate. These are his best numbers since his first year in Los Angeles in 2021.
After the year Stafford had, it would be a shock to see him not return to the Los Angeles Rams.
