Washington GM shares encouraging news on timeline for Jayden Daniels return

The Washington Commanders took a massive blow during the first half of their Week 2 loss against the Dallas Cowboys when star quarterback Jayden Daniels went down with an injury to his non-throwing arm.
Post-game testing showed Daniels had a dislocated elbow in his non-throwing arm, leading the team to officially announce he would miss Week 3 against the Seahawks and casting doubt on the rest of the season for the former LSU star.
Fortunately for Washington, it looks like they may have caught a break with their franchise centerpiece. Commanders GM Adam Peters told local sports radio the team doesn’t believe surgery or the IR will be required for their star quarterback.
“He met with doctors all over the country,” Peters said, via 106.7 The Fan. “We got a lot of good opinions. As of right now, surgery is not on the table, and we haven’t discussed IR.”

That means Daniels will be back within the month.
Daniels avoiding the IR is massive for the Commanders, and it also sheds some light on a potential timeline for his return. Anytime a player is forced to go on the IR, they must miss at least 4 games. The fact that Peters is already ruling that out suggests the team believes he could be back within a few weeks.
That said, none of this is set in stone, and Daniels’ status definitely could change in the coming days. Still, the fact that Peters is openly saying the team isn’t even discussing a stint on the IR is definitely cause for some cautious optimism in Washington.
