Former South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette has been ejected from the Panthers’ first preseason game for fighting.

Legette squared up with Browns defender Rayshawn Jenkins after a play in the first half of their preseason game on Friday night. Both players were ejected, but Legette seemed to be the player who got his money’s worth. He appeared to land multiple blows on Jenkins — albeit while Jenkins was wearing a helmet — before the fight was broken up.

Here’s a clip of the incident:

Soon after Legette was ejected, he shared a message on social media apologizing for his actions:

Legette is entering his 2nd NFL season with the Panthers. He was picked in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and had a solid debut season for Carolina: 49 catches for 497 yards and 4 touchdowns. He’s hoping to take another step forward this season.

It’s unclear at this time if Legette will face further punishment from the league. The Panthers’ first regular season game is scheduled for Sept. 7 against the Jaguars.
