Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is offering her support to Angel Reese and the ongoing investigation into alleged fan misconduct from the weekend.
On Saturday, the Fever hosted the Chicago Sky in the season opener for both teams. Clark shined with a triple-double as the Fever rolled to a rout, with Reese posting a double-double, but the Sky struggled to find their footing throughout.
At one point in the game, the two former college rivals were front and center. That incident came when Clark delivered a hard foul on Reese that was eventually upgraded to a Flagrant 1 and set off a brief scrum between the two teams.
In the aftermath of the game, the WNBA issued a statement that the organization was investigating “hateful fan comments” directed at Reese. The Fever also acknowledged the investigation and said they were working closely with the league in their commitment to a safe environment for all players.
On Monday night, with Indiana preparing to host the Atlanta Dream, Clark commented on the situation and praised the Fever organization for taking the lead in the matter. She also said there is no place in sports or society for those kinds of comments.
“There’s no place for that in our game, there’s no place for that in society,” said Clark per ESPN. “Certainly, we want every person who comes into our arena — whether player or fan — to have a great experience. I appreciate the league doing that [investigation]. I appreciate that the Fever organization has been at the forefront of that.”

The rivalry between Clark and Reese is certainly something beneficial for the WNBA, but fans crossing that line is never a good thing. Hopefully, the league will address it appropriately with the 2 teams slated for multiple matchups during the regular season.
