Paul Finebaum and Heather Dinich appear on ESPN’s Get Up throughout the season to talk all things college football. Like the rest of the country, they were stunned to see Ohio State lose to Michigan last Saturday.

Fans in Columbus have been calling for Ryan Day to lose his job, as he is now 1-4 in 5 games against the Wolverines. Despite the fact that he is 47-1 against the rest of the Big Ten, the 2 ESPN college football analysts think Day will be coaching for his job in the College Football Playoff.

“He has to make a deep run I would say,” Dinich said. “Win the national title, no, I don’t think that’s fair. But get to the National Championship Game, I think that is a significant conversation.

“Consider this, if the selection committee agrees with me on Selection Day, and Ohio State has a first-round home game. Could you imagine if they got knocked out early and ended their season with 2 home losses, 1 to Michigan? We are talking about his job being in jeopardy 100 percent if that were the case.”

Finebaum echoed the statement, saying Day’s struggle to beat his biggest rival is too much.

“He has to make a serious run as Heather said,” Finebaum said. “First round knockout I would fire him on the field before he gets to midfield. I still think he probably ought to go. He has been a very good coach. He is 66-10, but when you lose to your rival every single year. Four straight, so we are talking about 3 revenge games and the same result happens, especially this year. It is time to start packing.”

The CFP rankings come out tonight, and they will be telling to say if Ohio State will be in a position to host a first-round game in Columbus prior to conference championships.
