Dillon Gabriel took a brutal shot from TCU defender Jamoi Hodge on Saturday afternoon.
With TCU leading 34-10 with over 9 minutes left in the second quarter, Gabriel scrambled on first down and was giving himself up sliding legs first, and a TCU defender took an uncalled for shot on the on the Oklahoma quarterback. Gabriel was sliding around the 50-yard-line, and he was hit by Hodge.
TCU’s Hodge was ejected for the brutal targeting hit after the replay.
Hodge’s hit on Gabriel can be seen below.

Below is another angle showing Gabriel’s head slamming into the field.
Dillon Gabriel appears to lose consciousness on this subsequent targeting hit. OU Athletic Training staff is one of the best in the country and I know Gabriel will be well taken care of. Take notes, Miami Dolphins. pic.twitter.com/xNtP6k2zBZ

TCU is hammering Oklahoma 34-10 in the second quarter, but that hit on Gabriel was textbook targeting. Hodge had to have seen Gabriel going down just prior to the hit.
Unless Oklahoma can get some offense going, it’s going to lose for the second consecutive week. Last week, OU was upset by Kansas State.
Hopefully, Gabriel will be okay, and we will update his injury status a new information is released.
