Jackson Arnold announced on Wednesday that he was planning on entering the transfer portal. While undergraduate players can’t officially enter the transfer portal until Monday, players all across the country are announcing their intention to enter the portal.
Arnold had an up-and-down year for the Sooners, but there are many SEC schools that could be interested in the former 5-star QB. According to Pete Nakos of On3, Georgia, Auburn and Mississippi State are 3 schools who could be linked to Arnold.
UGA is expected to lose Carson Beck to the NFL Draft, while Auburn and Mississippi State are both looking to improve at the quarterback position.
Arnold started the season as the unquestioned starter in Oklahoma, but he was pulled during the loss to Tennessee for freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. He came back for the South Carolina, and started the remainder of the season.
His biggest moment of the year was in the Sooners’ huge upset against Alabama. He only threw for 68 yards, but he ran the ball 25 times for 131 yards in the 24-3 upset against the Crimson Tide. During his 2 years in Norman, he finished with 1,984 yards, 16 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
Players can officially enter the transfer portal on December 9, the day after the College Football Playoff bracket is set, as well as all of the other bowl games are set up.
