Kirk Herbstreit goes off on Oklahoma DL for questionable strategy: 'Unethical as hell'
Kirk Herbstreit had a few choice words for an Oklahoma defensive lineman who he felt was faking an injury in an attempt to slow down Tennessee’s high-powered offense.
“It drives me crazy. They look over after a big play and all the sudden, he just goes down. It’s not necessarily against the rules, but it’s unethical as hell. You see it all over against these tempo offenses. Guys just go down with a quote-unquote injury … (it’s) pathetic.”
The Volunteers have a 10-3 lead over the Sooners. Josh Heupel’s team entered the night with point totals of 69, 51, and 71 through their first three games, including 24 points in the first quarter against Chattanooga and 37 in the first quarter against Kent State.
The Sooners understood that they’d have their hands full with the Vols, and so far, with Nico Iamaleava posting 120 yards in the opening 15 minutes, things have gone according to script. We’ll see if the Sooners defense can stand firm and hand the Vols their first loss of the season.
Herbstreit just teed off:

Is calling an onside kick when you’re up 30-0 in the 1st quarter unethical or just totally classless by the “Champions of Life.”
Elbon, why so angry today? You’re acting like a fan of a team that was ranked 7th (somehow) that took two OT’s to beat Vanderbilt, and then promptly dropped to #11 in the newest AP poll because of it.
I saw that too. I’m shaking my head because we always seem to have a lineman coming up hurt on PATs.
