Mark Andrews has broken his silence after his crucial drop on a late 2-point conversion attempt knocked Baltimore out of the postseason.

The Ravens’ 3-time Pro Bowl tight end and former Oklahoma star addressed the drop heard around the world on Thursday. Andrews dropped a 2-point conversion pass from Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson that would’ve tied last Sunday’s AFC divisional-round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills with 1:33 left.

The pass was seemingly right there, but Andrews dropped the short pass that he would usually catch in his sleep. Instead of tying the game, the drop left Baltimore still down 27-25, which was the final score as Buffalo advanced to the AFC title game against Kansas City. Andrews, who was a unanimous All-American in 2017 with the Sooners and was a 2-time first-team All-Big 12 in 2016 and 2017, released a long, emotional statement on his Instagram page about a play he’ll never forget for the rest of his career or life.

It read in part:

It’s impossible to adequately express how I feel. I’m absolutely gutted by what happened on Sunday. I’m devastated for my teammates, my coaches and Ravens fans.

“I pour every ounce of my being into playing at the highest level possible, because I love my team and the game of football like nothing else. That is why it’s taken me until now to collect my thoughts and address this publicly.

“Even though the shock and disappointment are unlike anything I’ve felt before, I refuse to let the situation define me. I promise that this adversity will only make me stronger and fuel us as we move forward.
