Not believing the Les Miles to Ole Miss talk? If so, you aren’t the only one.

During his weekly Monday morning appearance on 94.5 FM WJOX radio show The Opening Drive, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum did his best to quell any and all talk connecting the former LSU coach to the open job in Oxford.

Here’s what Finebaum had to say regarding the Les Miles to Ole Miss speculation.

“He’s not getting the Ole Miss job,” Finebaum said on the air. “I find that to be one of the most ridiculous statements that I’ve ever seen that somebody is actually taking seriously. And by the way, I’m not suggesting that people are, all (USA TODAY’s Dan) Wolken is reporting is that Les (Miles) wants the job — well, Les has wanted every job that’s come available since October of last year.

“He couldn’t get the Houston job, he’s not getting the Ole Miss job.”

Pretty strong take there on the Mad Hatter’s chances to land at Ole Miss. Those weren’t the only comments Finebaum had regarding Ole Miss as the face of the SEC Network expressed his disappointment in former coach Hugh Freeze.

Here’s what Finebaum had to say when asked about Freeze’s silence following his decision to step down last week.

“I think the fact that Hugh Freeze has not spoken out, that he has not communicated explicitly with a number of people, says it all,” Finebaum continued. “I really believe, and this is just an opinion, if this was an isolated incident (Freeze’s infamous call to an escort service), he may have already come out and talked about it. I think he’s trying to run away from this because it’s extremely embarrassing to his family and to all the people that supported him.”
