Joel Klatt has never been known to shy away from controversy. The former Colorado quarterback and current college football analyst is now throwing shade at Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin spent Saturday watching SMU take on Penn State in the opening round of the College Football Playoff. The Nittany Lions have dominated the Mustangs, with the score at 31-3 as the 4th quarter began. Kiffin, who is known for his comments on social media, complained about the committee including SMU over his Ole Miss team and other SEC squads.

“Way to keep us on the edge of our seats Committee …. Riveting,” said Kiffin.

Klatt couldn’t let Kiffin complain about the CFP without getting a dig of his own in, however.

“If your team played half as well as you tweet you would likely be in,” said Klatt.

The Rebels ended the season with a 9-3 record, with a late-season loss to Florida dooming the team’s Playoff chances. The Rebels were also defeated earlier in the season by a bad Kentucky team that finished 4-8. If Kiffin’s squad won even 1 of these games, the team would almost certainly be in the CFP.

SMU isn’t the only team in the Playoff to be targeted by Kiffin, though. On Friday night, Kiffin made a comment about Notre Dame’s convincing win over Indiana as well.

Kiffin’s Rebels will take on Duke in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Jan. 2.
