Lane Kiffin is a man of the people, and that was never more evident than on Monday when he signed his autograph on a mustard bottle that a fan brought to SEC Media Days in Atlanta.
Kiffin said from the podium that he’s signed a lot of mustard bottles and golf balls.
“I’ve signed a lot of mustard bottles and golf balls, which normally I haven’t,” Kiffin said. “So it’s been a unique offseason.”
Those are an obvious response to the Tennessee game last year when Tennessee fans threw those items toward Kiffin and the Rebels’ sideline.
“I just like what he brings to football,” the fan told Bud Elliott. “He’s funny, he’s fun. I called him over there, was first in line and he said, ‘Let’s do it.’ So I thanked him for that, because I’ve followed him for a long time. … We just like football.”

The mustard bottle’s appearance followed Kiffin using a golf ball for the ceremonial first pitch this past baseball season against Tennessee. Both items were among the things thrown on the field at Neyland Stadium during last year’s Ole Miss-Tennessee football game.
