Ole Miss picked up a dominant 33-7 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, but one of the Commodores’ quarterback gave the Rebels trouble.

Walter Taylor was a ground threat for Vanderbilt all night, picking up 59 yards on the ground along with a touchdown. After the game, Lane Kiffin was honest in his answer about Taylor’s performance.

“I’m gonna tell you something most coaches wouldn’t tell you,” Kiffin said in his postgame press conference. “That first run I was like ‘Who is this guy? Did they sign Cam Newton or something?’ Because I didn’t have any idea who he was, so that’s not very good of me not knowing him. But that’s a big guy. Hard to bring down, physical downhill runner and obviously that wasn’t really something we were preparing for a lot. He did a good job.”

Taylor hasn’t been Vanderbilt’s starting quarterback this season. Ken Seals has been the guy from the Commodores, but he was pulled in the second quarter and Taylor took over. Taylor coming into the game obviously surprised Ole Miss and that’s why he was able to have success on the ground, but the Rebels were able to shut down Taylor’s passing game to secure a win.
