Lane Kiffin wanted to correct the record about him as a coach and play caller.

The Ole Miss coach believes there’s a perception about him as a pass-happy coach, but that’s not necessarily the case.

“There’s a perception that teams I coach just throw the ball,” Kiffin said Wednesday on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “I don’t know why that’s the case. … We led the SEC in rushing last year. … I just always think it’s good to be balanced.”

And if there’s anyone who knows Alabama coach Nick Saban’s sense of humor, it’s Kiffin.

The issue came up this week when Alabama’s Jordan Battle was asked about Saban’s sense of humor, particularly toward “deez” jokes.

“I retweeted that because I remember Marlon Humphrey I think said it to him first,” Kiffin said. “As the player referred to, he says it pretty often and must still be doing it years later.”
