As new Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin looks to complete his staff, he has zeroed in on a member of an SEC West rival.

Football Scoop reports: Source tells FootballScoop Lane Kiffin is targeting Texas A&M tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley for a similar role on his staff in Oxford. Finley, who played tight end at Oklahoma and in the league for a number of years, has coached tight ends at Missouri and A&M the past few seasons.

Finley joined Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Texas A&M after the 2018 season. Finley joined the Aggie staff in time to coach the 2018 Gator Bowl victory over N.C. State after spending the last three years in a similar role at Missouri.

Finley has coached a couple of notable SEC tight ends in recent years, including Albert Okwuegbunam and Jalen Wydermyer.

The tight ends Finley coached in 2017 caught 15 touchdown passes, the highest among all FBS teams, and the group helped the Missouri offense gain just under 200 rushing yards a game.

Finley came to Mizzou from Baylor, where he spent the 2015 season as an assistant director of football operations and offensive quality control analyst. Previously, Finley was the offensive line coach and strength and conditioning coordinator at Los Fresnos (Texas) High School.

He spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons as an offensive graduate assistant at his alma mater, Oklahoma, when the Sooners advanced to the Cotton and Sugar Bowl.

After he graduated from Oklahoma in 2008, Finley spent parts of five seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers (2008-10), Detroit Lions (2010-11) and Carolina Panthers (2012).
