Coleman Hutzler has been a member of the Ole Miss staff since Jan. 2021, when he came on board in Oxford as special teams coordinator following a 1-year stint as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

But it appears that Hutzler is headed for the next stop of his college football coaching career. He is set to be hired at Alabama, per On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Prior to his time at Texas, Hutzler spent 4 seasons at South Carolina. While there, he coached linebackers and special teams. That came after stops at San Diego, Stanford, Florida, New Mexico, and Boston College.

It’s the latest staff change for Ole Miss.

Rebels offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby took the same position at Oklahoma and was replaced by Charlie Weis Jr., while co-defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin is now sole DC at Texas A&M and was replaced by Chris Kiffin, brother of Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin.

Ole Miss also lost running back coach Kevin Smith to Miami, with Houston RB coach Marquel Blackwell hired to the same position on Kiffin’s staff. Strength and conditioning coach Wilson Love is now at Oregon and has been replaced by Florida’s Nick Savage.
