Ole Miss standout edge Suntarine Perkins is reportedly recovering from a recent surgery.
Multiple outlets are reporting that Perkins had shoulder surgery to repair his labrum. He is expected to be out for the spring practice period as he recovers from the operation.
Perkins has been a force on the Rebel defense. He is entering his true junior year in 2025.
This past season, Perkins played in all 13 games and made 8 starts at defensive end, earning third-team All-SEC recognition. He was a major contributor on a standout Ole Miss defense in 2024.
Perkins was tied for the team lead in tackles for loss (14 for 70 yards) and sacks (10.5 for 63 yards). He recorded 60 total tackles on the season, with 32 solo stops. Perkins added 9 QB hurries, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception to his season stats.
Perkins built on a stellar freshman season. In 2023, he was named Freshman All-SEC by the conference coaches after playing 429 snaps over 13 games, logging 38 tackles with 18 solo stops, 5.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks.
Other accolades for Perkins include 2024 All-America Honorable Mention from Phil Steele and 2023 Freshman All-America from College Football Network.
