Ole Miss made a huge addition in the transfer portal on Friday evening.

The Rebels landed a commitment from former Florida edge rusher Princely Umanmielen. He chose Ole Miss over several other elite programs who reached out after he entered the transfer portal.

Here’s Umanmielen’s announcement:

Umanmielen spent 4 seasons in Gainesville and has been a major contributor on the Gators’ defensive line over the past 2 campaigns. In 2023, Umanmielen recorded 11.5 tackles for loss and 7 sacks. Umanmielen was named 2nd-team All-SEC for his efforts this past season.

If Umanmielen has a strong season at Ole Miss in 2024, he could be in position to be an early-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 255 pounds.

Umanmielen is the 6th transfer addition for Ole Miss so far this cycle and the 5th on the defensive side of the ball. The Rebels have been aggressively pursuing talent in the portal as they look to re-build their defense in 2024.

Ole Miss now has the No. 2-ranked transfer class in the country, per 247Sports rankings. Other transfer additions so far include former Oklahoma safety Key Lawrence and former Arkansas linebacker Chris Paul Jr.

Ole Miss is gearing up to face Penn State in the Peach Bowl to close out the 2023 regular season.
