Ole Miss and Memphis are separated by just 71 miles on a map, and neither program is too fond of the other.

That became crystal clear midway through the first quarter of Saturday night’s meeting between the Rebels and Tigers (the first showdown between the programs since 2009), as Ole Miss’ Keith Lewis applied a late hit on Memphis kick returner Joe Craig, causing a benches-clearing brawl after the play in which punches were thrown.

Lewis was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, and Rebels’ place kicker Gary Wunderlich was ejected for his involvement in the fight. However, if you look closely, you’ll see Wunderlich does not actually throw a punch, but is instead just in the wrong place at the wrong time, standing near where the punch was thrown when the altercation occurred.

Ole Miss would miss a 40-yard field goal later in the half, and led Memphis just 7-3 at halftime.
