Long-time RichRod assistant leaving FBS program to join Ole Miss staff
Update: Ole Miss has confirmed the hiring of Calvin Magee.
The Ole Miss Rebels made an interesting hire recently when they added former Arizona, Michigan and West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez to the staff as offensive coordinator.
This came after hiring former Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre to run the defense, so Matt Luke’s staff now has plenty of experience.
On Friday, it was reported that RichRod and the Rebels had made another big addition to the staff, bringing on one of Rodriguez’s long-time assistants in former New Mexico OC Calvin Magee:
BREAKING: Calvin Magee is leaving UNM to join OC Rich Rodriguez at Ole Miss. The New Mexico football team will be looking for a new offensive coordinator. Magee was with the Lobos for one season. UNM Coach Bob Davie says the Lobos will continue in the offensive scheme (spread).

Magee served under Rodriguez at all three of RichRod’s head coaching stops, so he’s quite familiar with how the Rebels’ new OC operates.
The Ole Miss staff seems to be coming together nicely. Now, we’ll just have to wait until the spring to see how that translates to the field.
