Two of the three nominees for Gatorade’s National Player of the Year are set to play in the SEC.

Alabama QB commit Bryce Young and LSU tight end pledge Arik Gilbert are both up for the award along with Ohio State WR commit Julian Flemming.

Young recorded 4,528 yards passing yards in 14 games this season leading California program Mater Dei to the state finals. The 5-star Tide pledge is rated the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, No. 2 California product and No. 6 prospect overall nationally for the 2020 class on the 247Sports Composite.

Gilbert has 90 receptions for 1,614 yards after Friday’s Marietta (Georgia) 42-31 win over Parkview, his 14th game of the 2019 campaign. Many recruiting experts had predicted Gilbert to join Young in Alabama’s class, but Gilbert pledged to the Tigers on Oct. 23. He is rated the No. 1 tight end, No. 2 Georgia product and No. 9 prospect overall nationally on the Composite.
