Appalachian State is taking full advantage of the “College GameDay” experience as ESPN visits the Boone, North Carolina campus this weekend. The Mountaineers will play Troy in a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday. This decision came after App State’s big win over Texas A&M last week, which was part of a slew of upsets in Week 2 featuring Sun Belt Conference teams.

The school released a series of special events, including a poster contest to offer free tuition to the winner:

Get ready for the poster contest, and a chance to win one of 21 prizes, including FREE tuition and fees for the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year! The Makerspace in Belk Library is open until 5 p.m. and Club Hub is open until 7 p.m. in the Plemmons Student Union.

The school also relayed to students that “beginning at 7:45 a.m., ESPN will be recording and broadcasting live shows, including College Football Live at 3 p.m.” Plans are also in place for overnight preparations ahead of the popular Saturday morning show:

“Looking for a chance to get into the College GameDay pit? Spend a September night under the stars on Sanford Mall and claim your spot for a chance to be one of the 500 who will be on-camera during Saturday’s show! (Sleeping bags only – no tents, chairs or coolers, Plemmons Student Union restrooms will be open overnight).”
