Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams was injured in the third quarter Saturday and had to be carted off the field.

Williams was running around right end when he was tackled by Auburn’s Rudy Ford. Ford was called for a facemark penalty after twisting Williams’ head around. A second Auburn defender hit Williams hard after the Ford contact, knocking Williams hard to the turf.

Play was stopped for more than 10 minutes while medical staff tended to Williams. Williams’ mother was at the game and was brought down to the field to be with her son.  Williams was taken to a local hospital and was seen talking to trainers as he was being loaded into an ambulance. He was moving all of his extremities.

His teammates showed their support for Williams. When fellow running back Dominique Bell scored on an 11-yard run a few downs after play resumed, he flashed a “2-2” with both hands after the touchdown. Williams wears No. 22.

We will update his status as we can.
