It’s that time of the year again.

The preseason magazines are all about to hit newsstands. Preseason watch lists are being published; preseason top 25 rankings are starting to surface, and Athlon Sports has produced it’s preseason All-SEC teams for 2017.

No surprise that Alabama has the most selections of any team in the conference, producing 15 total players and even 10 on the first team. There’s little doubt the Tide are loaded with the best talent in college football.

Of the 27 players who made the first team, 20 of them are from the SEC West. That shows the talent gap may actually be getting wider. We’ll wait until after the season to see if this holds or not.

There weren’t many major surprises on the first team, but you can make an argument at running back. Athlon says LSU’s Derrius Guice and Auburn’s Kamryn Pettway are the first-team backs, while Nick Chubb and Bo Scarbrough are second team running backs. It’s safe to say the conference is loaded at the position.

Interestingly, Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham made the second team QB behind Jalen Hurts but in front of Arkansas’ Austin Allen. Everyone is projecting Stidham to have a big season based on his freshman year at Baylor and his spring game at Auburn.

It’s important to note the site is projecting the players and how they’ll perform this upcoming season.

For shortness, here’s Athlon’s first-team All-SEC for 2017, but be sure and check out their site for second, third and fourth teams.
