Cam Newton’s little brother, Caylin, is looking to transfer from Howard University, per The Undefeated.

Newton was voted on as the MEAC’s preseason player of the year for 2019, and he informed the team that he would redshirt and not play the rest of the season, per the report. Howard lost to Bethune Cookman Saturday 37-29 and dropped to 1-4.

Howard has a new head coach this year in Ron Prince, and he’s alienated several players because of his “radio-active, yelling coaching style.” Howard was destroyed by Maryland 79-0 in the first game.

Newton is set to graduate in May, and he would be taking advantage of the redshirt rule and become a graduate transfer. He would have two years of eligibility.

Newton threw for 2,629 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2018. He also rushed for 504 yards and four touchdowns. He was named the MEAC’s offensive player of the year in 2018.

He’s totaled seven touchdowns so far this year.

Newton led Howard to a historic victory over UNLV, where he passed for 140 yards and scored three touchdowns. His team was 45-point underdogs.
