CFB handicapper Danny Sheridan makes bold claim about how Notre Dame would fare in the SEC

With losses to both Miami and Georgia this year, it’s looking likely that Notre Dame is out of College Football Playoff contention.
However, it’s fair to wonder what would happen if the Fighting Irish had a chance to play in a conference championship game and whether that would sway the CFP committee.
Just don’t put the Irish in the SEC, USA TODAY analyst Danny Sheridan says. On Wednesday’s episode of “The Paul Finebaum Show,” Sheridan said he thinks Notre Dame would only be about the sixth-best team in the SEC:

It’s fair to claim Alabama, Georgia and Auburn are all better than Notre Dame this year, but which other teams Sheridan think could top the Irish is unclear. The other two SEC teams in the CFP rankings are No. 16 Mississippi State and No. 20 LSU.
Notre Dame fell to No. 8 with the loss to undefeated Miami, but it would certainly be fun to see the Irish square off against the Tigers or Bulldogs.
