Chad Morris was a popular topic on social media on Monday night — and not for a good reason.

Morris, the former Arkansas head coach, re-joined Clemson’s staff as a “special assistant” to head coach Dabo Swinney this offseason. He previously served as the Tigers’ offensive coordinator from 2011-14.

As Clemson’s offense repeatedly stalled in the red zone against Duke on Monday in its 28-7 loss, fans couldn’t resist putting the blame on the Tigers’ newest staffer — some more seriously than others.

Clemson went just 1-for-4 on its red zone trips vs. Duke. Its red zone woes included 2 fumbles inside the 5-yard line.

Many fans pointed toward the “Chad Morris curse” as the Tigers lost their first game to Duke since 2004.

Here’s some of the reaction:

Clemson is now 0-1 on the season and has lost back-to-back games dating back to last season’s Orange Bowl defeat vs. Tennessee.

The Tigers still have a tough schedule ahead that includes Florida State, Notre Dame and North Carolina, amongst other top teams.
