It’s safe to say Brandon Staley did not watch (or does not remember) the College Football Playoff National Championship in January. The Los Angeles Chargers head coach is being called out on social media Sunday for saying TCU is “no different” than Georgia and Alabama.

In a press conference after the 2023 NFL Draft, Staley was asked about the Chargers selecting 3 players from TCU.

“Yeah, they’ve got a really outstanding team,” Staley said. “I think it’s no different, it’s the same as the University of Georgia or University of Alabama. You know, one of the top college problems.”

WR Quentin Johnston (Round 1), WR Derius Davis (Round 4) and QB Max Duggan (Round 7) are the 3 TCU players who will begin their professional careers in Los Angeles. The 3 were part of a special season for the Horned Frogs that included a CFP win over Michigan.

TCU, though, is obviously far from being “the same as” Georgia and Alabama. The difference in talent was on display in the 65-7 blowout win by the Bulldogs. As has become expected, it was UGA and Alabama that topped the list of 2023 draftees with 10 each.

It’s understandable that Staley wants to talk up his new players, but as expected, Twitter users are letting him have it. Here’s a small sample of the replies and quote tweets to the video of Staley:
