Zamir White, the No. 1 running back in the class of 2018, is tired of the recruiting process and will be committing to a school soon, according to his high school coach.

“I think he’s got a good idea,” Scotland County coach Richard Bailey told the SEC Recruiting Buzz podcast. “I think he is still trying to work through the process a little bit. But he has been to all of the schools at this point. He has met all of the coaches. He has been to every place multiple times. I feel like he’s at least equipped now to make the best decision for him and his family.

“He’s just really tired of the process. Because you are tired of something is not necessarily the right reason to make a decision, but I do think that factors into him wanting to go ahead and get it done on his mom’s birthday.”

White, out of Laurinburg, N.C., is reportedly down to Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, and Ohio State. The Bulldogs are considered the overwhelming favorite, with 24-of-26 (92 percent) of experts’ Crystal Ball picks on 247Sports.

“It does start with (UGA running backs coach) Dell McGee,” Bailey said on the podcast. “He has done a great job recruiting Zamir. He has been, practically, as much as he is legally allowed to come to our school, he is there. He has been committed to building a relationship, not only with me but with Zamir… They do have a history of running the football and I think they are trending up. When things are going good at Georgia, it is a great place to play. It is not too, too far away from home. It is away from home, but not too far away from home.”

Bailey acknowledged that UGA is the leader, but that doesn’t guarantee White will pick the Bulldogs on June 27.

“For a long time, it definitely has appeared that (Georgia) was sort of the leader, but again, as we get closer to signing day, it seems like these things are tightening up,” Bailey said. “Just like everybody else, I am interested in seeing what he decides on the 27th.”

One of the contenders to upset Georgia is Alabama, despite the Crimson Tide signing elite RB Najee Harris in last year’s class.

“He had a great visit down there,” Bailey said. “I was really almost thinking that Alabama was maybe not in it, and then he had a great visit. They really sold him on the idea that they use multiple backs. They have Najee Harris, but they are a school that is going to use 2-3 running backs. That is sort of traditionally what they have done.

“Obviously, they are committed to running the football at Alabama and you have a chance to win a national championship. They are always going to be a perennial favorite. You have a chance to win the Heisman Trophy and do some other great things. Definitely a school that he has looked at hard.”
