It’s still a 3-horse race for the SEC West. But on Saturday, SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic said that the most important matchup is between LSU and Alabama next Saturday.

Both the Tide and Tigers were on bye in Week 9 but face off in Week 10 in Tuscaloosa. Cubelic is especially interested in seeing LSU’s elite offense against Alabama’s strong defense, led by a strong secondary and a great pass rush led by LB Dallas Turner.

Here’s what Cubelic had to say regarding the upcoming matchup.

“I think Alabama, LSU the game in my opinion the rest of the way through, obviously will be in Tuscaloosa,” Cubelic said. “LSU brings what I believe is the best offense in college football. Can that Alabama secondary, Dallas Turner and that Alabama pass rush be able to affect everything that Jayden Daniels is doing this year.”

Both Alabama and LSU control their own destiny. Ole Miss is rooting hard for an LSU win next week. And if Alabama can beat the Tigers, the West is effectively theirs barring a wild late-season collapse.

Alabama has struggled out of the gate and finished exceptionally well a few times this year. But they’ll need a full performance against Kelly and the Tigers, who have hung around despite an early loss to Florida State and a dogfight loss to Lane Kiffin’s Rebels a few weeks ago.
