Cole Cubelic released his weekly SEC takeaways for Week 5 in the conference, which was highlighted by the all-time win by Alabama over the Georgia Bulldogs. The SEC Network analyst had plenty of storylines to delve into, with another top SEC team being upset at home.
Four of the top 5 teams in Sunday’s new AP Poll are from the SEC, with Alabama moving up to No. 1 after the big win against Georgia. Texas dropped to 2 as they knocked off Mississippi State. Tennessee moved up 1 spot to No. 4 while it was on its bye, with the Bulldogs dropping to 5 after the loss. Ole Miss dropped the most in the poll, as the Rebels went from No. 6 to 12 after the home loss to Kentucky.
Among the top 6 teams in the new AP Poll, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 6 Oregon Ducks are representing the B1G.
Missouri is No. 9 in the poll after having a bye, and the LSU Tigers are No.13 after beating South Alabama. The final SEC team in the AP Top 25 is Oklahoma, who is No. 21 after a comeback victory against Auburn.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs have struggled this year, but Cubelic thought the team had a good plan and really battled against the Longhorns. Auburn and Arkansas both had brutal losses in games that they led for a lot of the game.
We do it each week, MY Sunday SEC takeaways…
ALABAMA: Gigantic win. So many massive plays & momentum shifts. 2 has the most fluid body control I've maybe ever seen. QB was great. The runs were dynamic but when he had to start hitting the freebies he was on point. When the easy…

AUBURN: Just a gut punch of a loss. Liked the plan on offense. Couple new formations. Mixed up run/blocking schemes. Thought they could have caught the safeties a little more. Quick throws to extend run game. 27 ran well. 77 had one miss otherwise played great. OL was better…

KENTUCKY: Huge road win. Great plan on offense. Move pocket. Designed QB runs. Attack edges & put them in conflict to slow them down later. 12 made some big must have throws. 6 was huge, play of the day. Run after catch was also big. Had to own TOP & did. Big on 4th down. OL…

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Tough one. Loved the plan on off. Ate clock. Helped young QB. The QB rotation a little puzzling. I love the backs, the see it well & get north/south. OL solid other than protection breakdowns late. TEs helped. 3 can go. 7 going to be great. 16 can't to play on…

OLE MISS: Couldn't stay on the field to get into a groove. Run game struggles hurt tempo. 3rd down just brutal. OL struggled. Too much penetration too often. 9 exceptional, made big plays. Tough fumble. Costly. Drops & protection breakdowns hurt. QB made huge throws. Couldn't set…

TEXAS A&M: Nice conference win. OC continues to find ways to build the off around 10. Use the mobility. Shave things down & let him be an athlete with leaning on the designed runs. Love how he challenged middle of field. Still a bit jumpy at times & accuracy fades but makes up…
