Cole Cubelic, as he does every week, revealed his SEC takeaways for Week 11 on Monday morning, working his way through all active programs from Saturday’s slate.
There weren’t really any surprises in the SEC this week, apart from the glaring one: Ole Miss over Georgia in dominant fashion, 28-10. It’s Georgia’s first loss to a team not named Alabama since 2020. Cubelic called Ole Miss the more physical team, and he could not be more correct. The Rebels owned both lines of scrimmage – especially on defense – and made life impossible for Carson Beck.
Naturally, Cubelic was also impressed with Alabama and South Carolina for their wins over LSU and Vanderbilt, respectively. The Tide put themselves firmly back in the Playoff field while simultaneously kicking LSU out of reasonable contention. It sounds crazy, but 7 SEC teams are still very much in play for a spot in the Playoff with just 3 weeks to go.
Here’s a full look at Cubelic’s takeaways from this weekend:
FLORIDA: Got into a style fight they weren’t equipped for way too early. Lost in coverage on multiple occasions. Missed tackles on perimeter that handed over explosive plays. Weeent bad inside until late. DL made a few things happen early. Misdirection got them out of plays. Poor…

LSU: Brutal loss. Had some cool stuff in on off but it didn’t consistently go. Stretch hits twice & never saw it again. Protection struggled. Slide pro turning guys free in A gap. RBs ran hard when they got a shot. 86 had a good game. 2 great. OL put in some bad spots IMO. QB…

MISSOURI: Gutsy win. Learned a lot about the character. 6 not great early but all in all much better than last 2 games. Altered plan to help him more. Got the ball outside & then down the field more. More mobility than folks expected. Knew who to get the ball to. 1 & 3 big plays…

OLE MISS: I’m going to say this once…many will have an issue with & I will make zero apologies; OLE. MISS. WAS. THE. MORE. PHYSICAL. TEAM. Game plan on off ga e the OL a much better chance to hold up. Wouldn’t have otherwise. Heavy dose of play action protection to freeze…

TENNESSEE: Solid conference win. Run game got going. TEs added to it. 19 & 87 really got after guys again. 6 just super dynamic. When he needed to get north-south now, he would, when he needs to wait, he waits. Missed a throw or two downfield. After QB went out plan had to…

VANDERBILT: Tough one. Bad matchup. Could not get north/south run going. That let LBs have freedom. Teams going to try & make them a pocket passing team. QB made them pay with runs. Couldn’t get shots down the field. Tough to move the pocket on those edge players. OL not great 1…
