Colin Cowherd gives pick for 2024 national champion
Colin Cowherd has seen enough.
The Fox Sports Radio host on Wednesday has made his pick for the winner of the 2024 College Football Playoff.
Cowherd is riding with the Tennessee Volunteers, who are ranked 5th in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll this week, fresh off a 25-15 road win over the Oklahoma Sooners. The Vols have the 2nd-highest scoring offense in the nation, putting up 54 points per game, and are allowing just 7 points per game, which is 5th-best in the country.
Here’s Cowherd’s explanation for why Tennessee is going to win it all for the first time since 1998:
“Tennessee is going to win the national championship,” Cowherd said. “Tennessee’s got the best defense in college football, excellent coach, explosive offensively – I think Tennessee is the best team I’ve seen.”

Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt responded by telling Cowherd he was wrong, but the longtime radio host has clearly staked his claim with the Vols.
Tennessee is off this weekend, but back in action on Oct. 5 at Arkansas.
It’s certainly not an outlandish claim, but certainly too early IMO. You can definitely have a conversation which is what Colin is having.
It’s nice to have a little success, especially after the long time we spent wandering in the wilderness. It’s nice to have the sort of team that gets you into the conversation.
It’s also awkward to find yourself rooting for Colin Cowherd to be right.
I told you so. From my lips to your ears 6 months ahead of the national media. Tennessee is where kids want to play.
Wow, what a bold claim, I kept waiting until n the punch line.. Tennessee has looked decent but let’s not fool ourselves, they’re still Tennessee.
I look unbeatable when I play rec kids too
