College football bands are a staple of the Saturday festivities in the fall. And they are not to be messed with, especially the tuba players.

But that’s exactly what happened during the Texas Southern game against Jackson State on Saturday when a tuba player unleashed a thunderous blow to a heckler, and that man was then pulled down the bleachers to get away and presumably recover. The Ocean of Soul fared better than the Texas Southern team on the field.

Texas Southern’s 4th quarter comeback in the closing seconds fell short as Jackson State escaped with a 21-19 win inside Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

With only 10 seconds left and the game on the line, Texas Southern’s Jace Wilson found a wide open C’ing Blanton across the middle for a 20-yard touchdown with 3 seconds left. However, the two-point conversion was intercepted and the onside kick failed as time expired.
